|Pricing Masonry Flooring|
Stone and ceramic tile flooring, like solid wood, are on the top end of the cost curve. In fact, stone typically is more expensive than wood. That’s because preparing or “dressing” it is labor-intensive and even though the majority of stone flooring is imported from countries where labor costs are lower than in the U.S., the freight costs add up the total. Because ceramic tile is manufactured from clay, sand, and other common elements, it typically is less expensive than stone.
What Can Go Wrong
Never install wall tiles on floors as they may crack. Wall tiles aren’t manufactured to withstand the weight, stress, and movement of foot traffic or moving furniture.
